hi hope someone can help and that i'm not being to thick and have not missed somthing that is really obvious, but is it possible to only let some people in your contacts list see that you are online and for the others to see that you are off line. have looked at all the settings i can think of but can't seem to find a way of doing this , very gratfull for any help

Block the ones that you want to appearoffline to?

Blocking is at current the only way, due to the way MSN is programmed you cannot yet, choose which status you want for each contact.

You can do it in MSN Messenger 5 for mac (by moving them from the personal tab to the corporate tab, and changing that tab's online status to something else), it's  the only way you can do it so far, but I doubt that you have a mac.
