O.P. Huh?  MP3 Player
I have a problem.  Up until about 2 weeks ago, when I plugged my MP3 player (an MPMAN MP-F1000) into the USB port on my computer everything worked fine.  Now however, when i plug it in i cant access it at all.  The computer doesn't recognise it but the MP3 players display shows that it is plugged in to the computer.  Does anyone know why this would happen?

RE: MP3 Player
What version of Windows are you using? XP is likely to be able to use the device as soon as its plugged in, however older versions of Windows may not.

If you are using Windows 98, download and install this file. But only if you are using Windows 98, if you are using Windows 2000, ME, or XP do not download it.

When you look under My Computer, when the device is plugged in, is the device listed? If not, click on Start then Control Panel then Administrative tools (please note this will only work in an administrative account on Windows) and under storage is the device listed there.

If you do not have an admin account on your computer, find someone who does, and see if the device is accessible via their account.

Even if you do have an admin account, try accessing the device (when plugged in) through another account on your computer and see if it works.

You may want to try resetting the firmware on the device, a guide can be found here. To open the files available for download on that page you will need an unzipping utility (such as WinZip) and Adobe Reader

Anubis - I'm using windows XP home edition with SP2.

I have looked everywhere you mentioned (and more) and cannot find the device listed anywhere.

I have an admin account and have tried it on all 4 accounts on my computer.

I tried to reset the firmware but I can't as the program doesn't detect the MP3 player.

Could it be something to do with the USB ports?

Try a different USB device in the port you use. If that device doesn't work, the port's hosed.

To check if the problem is from your Mp3 player or your computer not reconizing it, I'd suggest trying it on another computer running on windows xp ( most likely ur friend's ). If the same problem appears, something is definitly wrong with your mp3, if not, there has to be someting duable to fix your computer.

Tried a different USB device in all USB ports on my computer.   None work.  This shows that it is something to do with the USB ports or the computer.  What could it be?

FIXED IT - turns out the Usb Hosts drivers were deleted.
