i've been having werid computer problems for a start today when turning it on it got stuck on the screen before the windows boot screen the one that says "emachines" so I hit the power button and restarted it started fine again. then my mouse when clicking the left button opens the menu that you would get when clicking right click :\ (i've tryed with 1 or 2 mouses still the same) and then there's the lag one minuate its fine then the next the lag gets really bad and I have to restart.

I just can't figure out whats wrong :S i've tryed scanning for adware/spyware/virus etc but nothing :\. i've tryed with a different mouse and its still doing the same.

Any help would be great :)

Windows XP SP2
503 mb of ram
32mb intel intergeted graphics
40gb hard drive.

For the mouse problem, go to the control panel, then mouse. Under hte buttons tab, there is a checkbox to switch primary and secondary buttons. Click this checkbox with your right mouse button, (because they are probably switched). Then your mouse should be fine.

Sounds like a resident process virus - I hope that it isn't though, those are far from good news. Next time u boot up, run task manager and go to the processes tab, then click on cpu so that the most cpu consuming processes are on top, then when it starts to lag again, gimme that process, and mem usage, that might give clues as to what is laggin yur pc.

edit: I forgot to say, once it starts lagging real bad, don't let it lag to long, else u could damage your cpu.

that's just what my tech told me - i guess just the idea of running yur cpu at 100% for 5 mins i guess isn't a good thing, oh well, better be safe than sry ;)

Just so long as the CPU is adequately cooled, it'll be fine ;)
