I dunno what changes were made to the installer, but I don't think flashing should be in there...
The point is not to scare off the users, but to let them know what they can install.
Sometimes I install it and use it for a while... Not real searchs, of course, but visiting the sites is not that bad.
You dedicate a couple of minutes every other day for those searchs and it helps Patchou.
(unless you do it in an automated-like way and they don't pay him; the clicks must be "realistic", IIRC)
And, yes, I agree with mwe, don't ask Patchou about how much he earns.
