Yes you got that from the guide didn't you?

Toothpaste may (or mar not) be an abrasive, but some CD repairers work by levelling out the scratch with more, tiny, scratches, so maybe it is the abrasive quality of toothpaste (if it exists) that does the work.

* rav0 goes to put toothpaste on rav0's T630 Liquid Black Limited Edition

This reminds me; a while ago my parents bought a whole heap of Colgate toothpaste (we always use Colgate) from some wierd store. Sometimes we have gotten toothpaste from Indian shops, and it was labelled for Fiji, but it is the exact same stuff as the Australian packs. This lot of toothpaste was labelled for South Africa/America (I can't remember). Anyway it was really wierd, and had a powdery texture, like those "just add water" things, so maybe it is this kind of toothpaste that is abrasive. I wonder which kind fixes scratches, the powdery stuff or the smooth stuff.

I'd reccommend getting a game Dr. (scratch removal kit).... it works like a charm and saved me lots of money.

Alot of scratched CD's I have work fine...  did you try just playing it before you smothered it in toothpaste? :P

As for toothpaste, putting it on cuts is supposed to make them heal quicker... I was stupid enough to try it, and it hurt like HELL :(
