O.P. folder size
anybody know a FREE program that will give me the file size of folders, , i'm trying to find where the hell 12 Gb went in a week

Not actually a program but maybe you could try this.

Go to Start>Search and just enter a space in the search criteria and select the drive. Then just sort the results by file size.

Not entirely sure if that would help but yeah.

    - TreeSize Free
    - ExplorerXP

Edit: I've just tried ExplorerXP and it's pretty good :)

WinDirStat will show you this. You tell it which volumes or folders to scan, and when it's done, it shows you it all the files graphically, as well as a folder tree, with sizes, percentages and a bar graph. It is cost free and licensed under GNU GPL 2.

Doesnt right click and properties do it for you .... it does for me when i need to search where i lost my space which is once every 2 - 3 months :P

It does, but it is fiendishly slow and inefficient. WinDirStat (and I assume TreeSize Free) will scan the size fo everything once, and once it is done, you can check the usage for each file or folder very easily, and it is also shown as a graph.
