O.P. PerfectDisk Startup Error
Whenever I start PerfectDisk, I get this error:

Failed to connect to computer "CHRIS-8E36085F2".
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. (0x8007041d)

I'm not on a network; I just want to defragment my own computer. I've uninstalled & reinstalled and searched Google, and I think it has something to do with the Remote Procedure Call service, but I don't know how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In Tools/Advanced configuration/general settings
do you have stand alone or networked selected ?

Secondly do a full scan for malware . There is reportedly a virus
masquerading under the name of pdsched, even though that's
a legitimate name of Perfectdisk.
If you do services.msc from the run box and right click
the services, you shlould get the path.. Any other behavior
is suspect.

Since you can't open the program I removed the first one :)
