O.P. Convert to NTFS
Just to make sure before I waste my time or lose a lot of data lol.

Would it be fine to create a new partition, load XP onto it then from there and convert my C drive to NTFS, without losing any data at all?

Thanks :)

Converting shouldn't lose any data. but then of course you never know what will happen, so it's good to make backups of important files anyways.
Speed doesn't kill, a sudden lack of it does.

RE: Convert to NTFS
I converted one of my drives to NTFS a little while ago, and while very possible to do so without losing any data, it messed up my antivirus registration (avast) and MSN Messenger. If you're feeling brave and understand the (possible) risks, then go for it. Otherwise, FAT32 isn't so bad :P
