Hey Guys hope everyone is well.

I've just started using Macromedia Flash MX 2004 and getting on really well, just one problem, I insert jpeg images onto my flash movie they look fine whilst i'm editing.. but when I save as .GIF and play it.. the image quality is awful.

I've changed the JPEG quality in settings to 100, but that still doesn't help.

When you export to GIF are there any save settings?  like choosing number of colours and transparecy etc? 

Also I dont think Flash is the best tool for creating GIFs, I'm guessing it's animated?

Yeah there is settings to change colours etc, I've tried all that also but nothing changes.

I've seen loads of gif banners that look fine, just don't understand why mine ain't coming out fine

Yeah animated .gif I save them as, but when I save as a SWF file they look great.. I need them as gifs though..

Can you save them as .bmp or .png they are also good saving formats, they are usually excepted by most programs and websites i use.

Can only save as BMP Sequence which is no good.

Well you may want to try and find a different program to create the GIFs with then, as when I tried to use Flash to make animated GIFs it wasn't too great.  But someone else may have some ideas to try to be able to do it in flash

Create images then save them in a program like Animation Shop. I find it quite handy to save images on. Or you could go to google and do a search about it, im sure you would get a few answers.

Ok any programs that can do flash and save quality .gifs???

GIFs will be saved using only 256 different colours, while the SWF will save the images in full quality.

Do you "awful" animations look something like this?



What's it for anyway?

I've been having the same problem, impossible to fix that. Flash is not the right tool to create high-quality animated GIFs, just crappy GIFs like the ones on Clippart Gallery in MS Office. xD

Try some other programs.
