O.P. Avoid being spyed on Lan
Hey there!
Me and my brother are on a Lan here at home, and I think he is using one of those spying tools on me. MSN Sniffer or something. I was wondering if there was any way to avoid that, maybe by encrypting. Is there any tool that could avoid this?

Many thanks!

Cya

try uninstalling any suspicious programs you think you have on your computer in control panel > add/remove programs. or you can get microsoft antispyware and with it remove the ghost keylogger that msn sniffer uses. then your brother won't be able to spy on you.

its not any kind of spyware. I have tried the MSN Sniffer program myself. There is no need to install anything on the other persons computer. It just seems that these conversations are unprotected and can thereby be seen through a lan network.

no, msn sniffer requires a ghost keylogger to work, i've tried. and msn antispyware detected it.

No it doesn't. It sniffs through the LAN. It even says so on their website:

No additional program installation is needed on the monitoring target computers. Everything will be recorded without being detected

How does the LAN work?

If you use a router then he won't be able to spy on you.

Interesting. Are you plugged in directly to the router or are you running wirlessly?

Usually if you are plugged in directly there is no way of diverting or copying traffic so that you can packet scan it ;)
