Hi,

I downloaded a program off limewire, i scanned it with a scanner my computer comes with. Nothing was detected.


Then.....

I got these messages popping up on the taskbar saying 'You have spyware, this could harm your computer. Windows will now download a spyware product which will help your computer.

It downloaded Spyware Sheriff. I decided not to use Spyware Sheriff because it may be a virus. I got Spyware doctor scanned my computer.

I had about 50 virus's/spyware threats. I thought ok i will just remove them. The problem is you have to pay to remove them.

I am really hoping there is a virus/spyware removal program on the web. I have been searching constantly.

If you know any free spyware or virus removal programs please post.

Free Anti-Spyware software:
Adaware Personal (there are other editons available too like Adaware Plus, Adaware Professional and Adaware Enterprise, but these are not free)
Spybot Search & Destroy

Free Anti-Virus software:
AVG Free
There are probably more available, but I don't remember their name...

Symantec is not a spywere remover

1) Symantec is a company, not a program
2) Symantec has also made anti-spyware programs
3) AVG Antivirus is an antivirus program, not an anti-spyware...
