O.P. Huh?  Impossible to remove the sponsorprogram
[b]Some experts here, I hope...?

My girlfriens installed Messenger Plus yesterday, accidently with the sponsorprogram. So now I tried to uninnstall it, but I didn't see that verification box as mentioned. Which means the program is gone, BUT I still have som "favorites" that won't go away. Impossible to remove, because they don't show in the "favorites organizer" or when I start in safe mode. However, they do show in my regular favorites page.

Any tips on how to get this crap away from my PC? Please.....

Thanx, Thomas

Yepp. Didn't work... If this is any legal stuff, then why do they make it so fucking hard to remove?

RE: Impossible to remove the sponsorprogram
I think you couldn't uninstall the sponsor properly because your Anti Spy/Adware program deleted parts of it.

- Exit/disable your AV/Anti spy/adware program temporarily
- Install Plus! with sponsor
- Immediately uninstall (sponsor only if you wish) and follow instructions carefully
- Reboot to make sure every leftover is gone and enable your AV/Anti Spy/Adware prog again (if it didn't already on reboot).

Now feel free to give Plus! another try, and remember the sponsor is optional...if not selected "yes install sponsor" then it will only install Plus!.

OK, guys. Thanks for the help. I had to re-install it and than remove it from both of our user-accounts, so it seems fine now.

However, my Norton Systemworks went for a system scan today, and guess what it found? Check this link. Maybe harmless, but still...

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/ven...ta/adware.lop.html

"Transmission
This adware component must be manually installed, or installed as a component of another program."

Yeah, right... No more Plus for me...

It's just adaware, nothing else. The sponsor is completely optional, you don't have to install it. Just download Plus! and choose not to install the sponsor and everything will be fine.

I got the same thing. I uninstalled lop and traces where still in my pc in my system restore and temp files. Some of the filenames shocked me as well. This is a concern, if you could give more deatils I can pass this onto Patchou, who of course will make sure the sposnor is tweaked so this never happens again ;)

Thank you for been so polit and listening, we often get hounded by people saying Messenger Plus! is a virus. But this is a top proity, if traces of the sponsor are not being removed :P

Thanks :)
