O.P. Broadband cable
Okay, I know this is kinda going to sound stupid, but can anybody tell what kind of cable goes from a broadband router to the telephone socket? I think it's a RJ11 but not entirely sure.

The only reason I ask is because that I desperately need to buy a new cable after having an....accident with it and it's an odd size that I need to, so any help would be grand.

Thanks :)

If you've got DSL, It's either an RJ-11 (most likely) or RJ-12 (Much less likely).

If you've got a Cable Modem, You need a RG-6 cable (Dont know if it's the same outside the US)

RJ-11 is the most common standard telephone line connector used by ADSL modems. IIRC, it has six 'pins', whereas the Ethernet RJ-45 has 8.
If in doubt, just ask your local PC retailer for an 'ADSL modem cable' ;)

Edit: The RJ-11 connector will only be on one end, the end that goes into the modem. The other end will be a standard telephone jack.

er.. shouldnt it just be a standard RJ11 telephone cable? The connector would be the same on either end.

Vazza, if you need to get a new cable badly,  just take one off any other phone in your house/apartment and it should work.

Depends on the phone socket. In the UK, the wall phone socket isn't an RJ-11. Not sure what it is, but it's definately not an RJ-11.

Ah, I'm sorry, I speak for anybody looking to replace a cord living in Canada/USA for sure then.

Well it was a RJ11 cable that I needed, because we have filters on our phone line to allow us to use the phone and net at the same time.

But thanks to everyone that helped :)
