O.P. pop3 not checking. Settings work when tested.
Hello,

I was looking very much to the release of Msg Plus! Live because it could help me check my incoming mails.

I use gmail. The settings work when tested. However, Msg Plus! only seems to check my email count whenever I log in for the first time.

Subsequently it doesn't even if the delay settings are set to "3 minutes". I've also checked the box to notify me of incoming mail as well, but it doesn't work.

Am I missing something here?

You need to configure your GMail account to be able to use it as POP3. But even then there are limitations as GMail doesn't fully and properly support POP3 emails.

See the thread "MsgPlus! Pop3 Gmail Limitations" for more details.

And also look at the official tutorials of Plus!3.

Ahh...I am sorry but I've already done all the mentioned steps. Also, I have used Msg Plus! before it went Live, and everything was working fine that day. I do understand gmail's limitations. The thing is it's not even checking it now. o.o Except during Login.

I have not touched those options in gmail since then, but I have doublechecked to make sure they were right.

Is my Firewall blocking MsgPlus? I've tried allowing the program, only I couldn't find the correct Executable to do so. What I see under the Messenger Plus! Live Folder is 3 executables:

  • Log Viewer
  • MP Tools
  • Uninstall

coupled with other .dll files and 3 folders: Interface, Languages and Scripts.

Any other ideas? >.<

It could be possible that it is your firewall or other internet 'security' tool which blocks it. Though that wouldn't explain why the server can be contacted if you test the settings or why you do get a popup when you sign in...

Plus!Live doesn't have an executable anymore as it is totally integrated/hooked into Windows Live Messenger.

If you follow all the nessecairy steps as you said you did, I'm afraid I don't have any clue to what the cause might be....

As alternative you could try this script:
"[RELEASE] Gmail Checker 1.10 - get alerts upon new emails in your gmail accounts"
It does the same but connects in a different way.

If you're using Plus!Live you might want to check out this script that cooldude_i06 made.  I don't use gmail so I'm not for sure if this script will do what you're wanting, but it may be something worth checking out for you.

Thank you all. I guess I'll just have to stick with other notifiers then. I've d/l the script and imported it. And it works! Thank you!
