O.P. Shutdown issues after installing Plus! Live...
I've experiencing something curious after installing Windows Live Messenger 8.0.787 and Messenger Plus! Live 4.0.235 last week.

Everything was running preety fine, I'd found a bug (i think that is) when i minimize any WLM conversation window (with or without tabs) and, when I receive a message, i've to click three or four times to the window shows up, and... the window don't maximixe to be on full screen.

And, when I click to shutdown my PC, it's was running so much slow, and my Hard Drive led don't get on... This process which normally takes less than 10 seconds ground up to 27minutes! To be exact, was 27 minutes and 34 seconds of the most boring shutdown in my whole life!

I thought that I got an virus or spyware. So, I'd scanned my pc with Kaspersky Atni Virus 6 and Spybot 1.4 (both updated) and they haven't detected any virus or spyware...

My O.S. is a Windows XP Pro SP2 without any hotfixes (they cause issues to me...), that was made with NLite and, with MSN Messenger 7.5.0324 and Plus! 3.63.148, I haven't any problem.

Now, I've made a clean install of the same Windows and now, I'm running MSN 7.5 with the "old" Plus.

Sorry, my english is not that good, but I hope you understand what I wrote...

Patchou, congratulations by the plus! It's the most useful software for the Messenger!

Hello Rafael Moreira,
Do any of your symptoms happen when you are using Windows Live Messenger 8.0.787 without Messenger Plus! Live 4.0.235? Could you please make a list of programs you are running before you shutdown since some of them may be doing this.

I think that's difficult another program affecting the shutdown, because when I close a program, I wait for the end of this process and the "clean" of his data from Virtual Memory.

But, these are the programs I was running before shutdown the PC:

Opera Browser 9.0 (build 8502)
Winamp 5.24
CachemanXP 1.1
S2KControl (a software that decrease the processor clock when i don't need processing power)
Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0.299

And, now I've remember, My WLM was been patched with A-Patch, this can affect?

Thank You!

Yes this may affect it.

Could you reinstall WLM with no add-ons or patchs except for Messenger Plus! Live and then end all other programs right before shutdown and tell me what happens? This will tell me if it is Messenger Plus! Live's fault.

Hi,

Ok, I wanna do that, but, before this, i have some questions...

I've found a way to have, in the same PC, the MSN 7.5 and 8, and their respective Plus... I've just create another folder and put the MSN files that was in the "C:\MSN Messenger" in the new folder...

This change, with two Plus can do any issue? With WLM8 Beta and this change everything was running ok...

And, the problem of the "discord shutdown", sometimes appears, and, sometimes the PC switch-off normally... So, I'll be testing this for three or four days...

Thanks for your attention!

Have a nice week! :)

I think you want to have Windows Live Messenger and MSN Messenger 7.5 with Messenger Plus! install for both messengers.

To do this you should uninstall WLM, MSN Messenger, Messenger Plus!*, and Messenger Plus! Live* just to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Install Windows Live Messenger

Install Messenger Plus! Live

Rename the Windows Live Folder (in this case c:/Program Files/MSN Messenger) to Windows Live Messenger (anything you want really)

Install MSN Messenger

Install Messenger Plus!
I hope this is what you wanted ;)

*Make sure you select Messenger Plus! to save your prefrences when uninstalling
