O.P. [REQUEST] Mute
There used to be a plugin for MP!3 that had 2 simple commands: /xmute and /xunmute (can't remmeber who made it :(). If I'm not mistaken, all it did was remove the registry entries associated to SN Messenger sounds, so it was muted for all intents and purposes.

My 2 part request:
1- Could a script be written to mute Windows Live Messenger sounds?
2- Could this script (optionally) mute MP!L sounds as well?

When I want to "mute" my WLM sounds, I just change my status to Busy.

Yes, I know there are otehr ways to mute sounds. The reason I'm asking for a script is because the methods currently available aren't suitable for me. I sometimes want my Messenger to be silent but keep my status to Online. And going through both the Plus and Messenger options to disable all the sounds is cumbersome.

I agree with CanadianOriginal :)

I know I can do that with busy but if I want to keep chatting with my friends when I'm watching vids or listening to music it's not the best way :(

Busy indicates I have no time for chat and it's not real in my case ;)

I already suggested this in beta forum but no luck :P

Here is quote from my previous request:

can you please add a mute option instead?
so I can choose to mute wlm completely if I need without care of activity I'm going to take, even if they don't activate whatimlistening messenger feauture...

the best way to do that is in my opinion a voice in right click menu of wlm systray icon with "mute wlm" and a flag near to it to check if it's currently muted or not... and a keyboard shortcut to toggle it easly

...maybe another big improvement could be the ability to disable all wlm notifications atl all (I mean sounds and toasts) always with an option in right click menu... this is because even if I check to "block notifications when I run full-screen applications" in wlm options I noticed wlm is not able to recognize all full screen applications and sometimes I can see toasts in bottom right corner while i'm watching  full screen video or playing a game...

in conclusion I'd like to see two simple options in right click menu of wlm systray icon:

- "Disable all sounds"
- "Disable all toast notifications"

I like all the suggestions you've added. But is anyone up to writing a script for this??

I made it, it just killed the reg keys assoticed with MSN Messenger when would readd them when you unmuted it.

Matty's reply to MUTE button for msn

I might make a wrapper for it who knows.

Hey Matty, thanks, I thought it was you but I wasn't sure. If you're working on it, is there anyway you could expand it and get it to mute Plus Sounds as well?
