O.P. The disk is write-protected
My cousin gets that error with her MP3 player when she tries to delete any of the files (through windows explorer, it's one of those pendrive a-like mp3 players).. We tried formatting but it stills gives the same error :(

How do I solve this ?

Is there a little switch on it that could write protect it?

If not, it could also be a soft protection. Meaning you need the special software and/or driver to disable the write protection.

Eventually no, but I'll ask her anyway ;)

No, that shouldn't be the case seeing she always administrated her files like this. But thanks anyway :)

RE: The disk is write-protected
Heres a link to a little prog to format usb drives [please note that i have only tried on a pen drive ]
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/hiren.thanki/downloa...les/usb_format.exe
Also, after reading a bit, it says that many generic mp3 players have a little option "set the usb to auto-detect" it may be somewhere in the options....
If it is set, it should work/look like any other regular device, and you should be able to delete/rename blah blah...

Oh, now with the model... what program she has used in the past to add songs?
They dont seem to have firmware updates... for anything.... and user opinions really suck....

It can still be a software/driver problem, even if she was able todo this in the exact same way in the past. If her driver or software got messed up for example....

Maybe the actual song it write protected. This means the person who created it or burnt it to PC must have protected it. It can simply be turned of by right clicking it and Unticking the 'Read Only' box.

If that doesnt solve your issue, then i'm not sure but im sure these fantastic people on here can help lol
