hey just a quick question, anyone have any suggestions on a quick simple program that i can use to edit picutures to turn white spaces into invisible or see through instead? it would make life a lot easier for webdesign. thanks!

i beleive frontpage has the option to select a colour and make it transparent it then makes it a gif and updates the img code

If you use the Wand Tool in most good image editing programs, you can select the white colour and delete it, then save it as .gif

in photoshop, use the wand tool, select and area of whiteness, right click and click "similar" then it'll choose everything of a similar colour, press delete and save as gif (or PNG)

In GIMP it's really easy, just add the alpha, and selcet "Turn color to Alpha". Done!

But, u'll need the GIMP for it.

for complete n00bs the gimp is really hard to get used to, its more like how a MAC works being lots of windows/boxes instead of one program in one box like Microsoft Windows apps are

however it is really easy to remove colours to form transparancy, standard /gif "transparancy colours" seem to be bright pink or bright green as normally these dont appear elsewhere in teh image/text

Totaly agree, thats what bugs me on a Mac.
