O.P. [SOLVED] Urgent: PC stuck on BIOS
I used my PC downstairs to connect it to the TV via the S-Video cable and it worked fine. I took my PC back upstairs and now it gets stuck on the BIOS. My BIOS has 2 screens and get stuck on the second screen which shows a long list of the PCI devices and Boot from CD/DVD (which it normally says). Usually it will stay on that screen for a few seconds then load, but I have left it on for 30mins and still no change.
I have tried checking if its a hardware problem by booting on the bare minimum hardware, but even still on that and after adding things in it still happened. I've currently got my Windows CD in the drive and it's taking absolutely ages to get started.
What can I do?

RE: Urgent: PC stuck on BIOS
Your problem reduced to the one relevant detail:  you moved the PC and it no longer works.  This can only mean a)you plugged things in wrong after moving it; or b)something came loose inside.

The only external devices you could have plugged in wrong and have such a problem are PS/2 style keyboard and mouse.  Usually it just causes them not to work, though.

For the second possibility, I'd suggest opening the computer and reseating (removing and putting back) all cards and your memory module(s).

Heh, I fixed it. I put a jumper on the CLR_CMOS pin and now its booting fine.

Which wiped your BIOS configuration, removing the conflict.

about the problem..... bios corrupt by moving the computer?hmmm....

by plugin it in on a pin on the motherboard?
the jumper is a little plastic rectangle in the middle with some wire/metal that joins two pins together.....
