O.P. Alt-Space crash
When I hit Ctl-space bar (usually used in photoshop as a zoom shortcut) Windows Live Messenger crashes on my system.

It leaves behind the process thread but the UI is basically down and the icon disappears from the system tray. I have to force the thread b4 restarting it.

Im not sure if the problem is with WLM or something else specific to my system.

I running windows XP Professional service pack 2

It sounds like you're accidently activating messenger lock, one of plus' features ;)

To disable this feature, or change the shortcut open up your plus preferences, and go to the messenger tab, and choose messenger lock from the list on the left.

I could however be off with my diagnosis :P

You can see if the boss protection was enabled after you click it, by going to your taskbar and see if you spot a new icon, double click it, and if messenger returns, then that was the problem.
However, i don't think it is,as the default Plus! Live shortcut for boss protection is Control + Space.
