RE: Transparent Icons Help
That's quit odd then Cookie, I'm not saying your wrong, but the image I was using, I just edited slightly in photoshop (no transparency tools used, just fixed some red-eye in a photo and a few touch up's) I set the picture as a background and my icons became non-transparent.

[go to
System Propieties -> Advanced options -> On Performance section

and find "use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop" check that]

I did that and it was already checked.

[Disable "Active Desktop":
* Uncheck "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" in Control Panel > System Properties > Advanced > Performance > Settings]

This also was already disabled.

I opened the file, chaned it to .JPG and that fixed it.

The website I've had to upload it to due to size, has resised it because it was still to big for that. this is the old png image, but as I said, I changed it to JPG which made it work

RE: Transparent Icons Help
That's of no use... I need to unmodified original PNG which you used. Not a file which is altered by some service or converted to another format.

because:

Make sure the PNG's don't have a transparancy channel; even if you don't have transparent pixels in the image it doesn't mean the PNG doesn't have a transparent channel.

Thus, as I said, it depends on the format of the PNG, if you're going to alter it or convert it to something else then the file/format changes.

thus not "link to remote jpg image"

;)

PS: Simply update the previous post with the PNG you've used with your desktop, the exact same one, unmodified (ZIP it if it is too large or send it by email in that case). I ask this (to update your post instead of making a new one) so this thread doesn't go too far offtopic with this. After I've recieved the PNG, I'll delete this post too....

;)

Yo guys i had the same problem and it's from " lock Items on Desktop"  .........................  BUT  ...............   that's because it's active from somewhere else !!!

all you have to do is the following :
right click on the dest top > propertise > desktop tap > click on customize disktop > web Tap > on the web pages white box uncheck all the marks > ok > ok and you are done

after that make sure that the use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop is checked on :P and have fun
