O.P. Need advice >MOBO'S<
I was looking around on random sites for mobos and found this:

>Gigabyte GA-965P-S3<

>$168.00<

Anywhere in Australia (preferrably Sydney) I could get it or an equally/slightly less performance one for a cheaper price? I really need a new board {ASUS A7V133} yuck.

Oh, and i'm not even sure if they're called mobos. Does it stand for motherboard? :$

Never thought of CPUs actually...

If I do buy this mobo, which would be very unlikely, I'd put my old mobo's AMD Athlon 1.2GHz into it (will it work?).

I might also get an IDE to SATA board (convertor thingo).

you need to check the motherboard has the right socket for the CPU before you even think of buying it :dodgy:

That CPU is Socket A i think (from memory of my old Athlon XP Barton 2500 being socket A)

So don't even think of trying to put that CPU into that motherboard :p

Do any of the not-so-latest mobos support my current CPU and AGP?

My RAM is 128x128x256 (512mb) and DDRII.

I don't really plan on getting a new mobo (haven't got the money nor way of getting it:P) but if by some miracle someone gives me, like, $200 for my b'day (yeah, right8-)) or someone spends that $200 and gets me the mobo plus cpu^o)

What is the reason to replace the motherboard only?  About the only circumstance where that would make sense is if your current motherboard is malfunctioning.

1.2GHz Athlon is a fairly old PC.  If it works at all, you should just leave it alone for now and save for / talk parents into getting a complete new computer.  Even if you buy a new board and CPU, your other components -- particularly memory, which is the next most expensive item -- are not likely to be compatible with those.
