O.P. Anyone who is good in encrypted files?
Following subject:

Rockbox is an addon for MP3players, which replaces the original firmware by a better version.

Like for Ipod: imagine just the Nano: traditional white & blue display, able to view pictures. What if there was a firmware which does exactly the same, only with much more and better functions (like video?) and user costumizable colors, themes, games?:

Video Linux

Or if you choose for Rockbox, there is no video capability but you can add picture-backgrounds, a nicer gui, ...

Video rockbox

all this was possible with the First generation IPod Nano's.
The second generation is, apart from the outside what looks like a mini, the same. But nothing is less true. The internals are all different. The electronicsplate is far from compare-able, the processor is a different, better model, which makes the current versions of Podzilla and Rockbox incompatible with the second generation of Nano's.
Normally it would be allready compatible with these new ones. But Apple decided to encrypt the firmware of these Nano's, for the first time in ipod-history. That way it's hard to tune rockbox and podzilla to the new Nano's. To find a port to get the firmware on, we must understand the Nano's functioning. That can be read in the Firmware's code. As it's encrypted we first must find a way to dy-encrypt it. That's what this post is all about. It's hard and I need somebody to get a look at it.

tnx in advance,
Exca

But that is my opinion!

umm... fill the firmware with ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ123456789 and see what gets to the ARM?

At this point, everyone is in the developement process, once somebody has the port, the programmers of rockbox can get on.

Someone who can break the encryption is the base to get this all..
It's not an ARM, and how will you tell what goes to the processor?

edit: is is an ARM, but why limiting to printable ascii?
