O.P. MSN freezes
Was running messenger live and sometimes unable to open msn on startup.  check the task manager and would have 2 messengers in the task manager under processes.

If I'm lucky enough to get the program up it would freeze as soon as my account signs in.

I have done complete uninstalls of live and live plus.  I went back to live by itself and no change

Have reverted back to 7.5 and still same issues

At the moment I'm running windows messenger and driving me mad

Help please

O.P. RE: MSN freezes
problem ongoing :(

Messenger keeps freezing on startup or when first login and see all my contacts. It usually unfreezes after a while but sometimes need to restart the pc. The only resolution I have found is reseting my router which I found heaps MsnMsgr entries which keep appearing in the firewall rules. I have no idea why they keep appearing and how to stop them as believe is the issue.

I have done the following, most things on multiple occasions with no difference (all of these before finding the router entries):
- reinstalled messenger live and the old version (with and without messenger plus)
- reloaded the firmware onto my router
- disabled the window firewall
- ran all the appropriate AV and spyware scans with nothing found)
- ran system restore

I'm at a lost. I would reinstall but believe pointless as appears router related.

Any help would be appreciated. Pic to the firewall rules below

Might be pointless, but try downloading CCleaner and cleaning up the registry. Do a complete un-install of both (WLM and plus, including removing the C:\Program Files folder) and re-install.

ive tried CCleaner.   i have deleted the WLM program folder but never the plus one.  I try fresh install of WLM and Plus, delete the system and reset my router while there uninstalled.  I'll let you know how I go either way

Thanks

Let me guess: you're looking at the router's log? In that case, each entry is just a connection attempt by WLM. So you can ignore the logs ;)

Might be the Hosts file? Dunno. Try looking into the hosts file, there might be your answer.
