Right.

So I learn about Messenger Plus! earlier today, and decide to give it a go. I install it, everything seems fine, though now MSN won't boot up at all.

I mean, msnmsgr.exe runs according to the task manager, but nothing happens. It just.. sits there, idle, and not responding.

Naturally I try uninstalling Plus!. To no avail.

I then try repairing MSN Live. Nada.

I proceed to reinstall it entirely. Still nothing.

I get to the point where I even try a bloody system restore. And I'm still encountering the same problem.

I ran a few scans on my computer, and every thing's clean.

I have no idea what's going on here. Help would be greatly appreciated.

did you at one point previously?

Nope and nope. :/

End the process msnmsgr.exe
Restart WLmsgr.

try disabling you antivirus software. Macafee and someother antviruses block from msnmsgr from opening once they have been chnaged/something added on (in this case plus)

If you have windows live onecare installed, disable that and see if it helps.

Firewall may be blocking it.

None of the above suggestions have worked so far, and I doubt it's my firewall. :\

Are you 100% sure you installed Messenger Plus! and not some fake? I ask this because there are fakes floating around, which cripple Messenger and even replace it with some malware. Always download from official sites.

That alone shows it doesn't have anything todo with Plus! though....

This is because Plus! does not change anything to the physical files, nor to the registry settings of Messenger, it doesn't modify a thing. If Plus! is uninstalled, Messenger is still 100% as it was before.

To try and fix Messenger, try to follow the instructions given here, to the letter:
"CookieRevised's reply to Windows Live Messenger BIG PROBLEM!"
