Hey yeah,

Super fast question.

Before Messenger Plus Live! The custom name/nickname was linked to the desktop contact so it was all gravy for those who didn't want shit like "I_LuV-U_ALAN" on their desktop, haha.

But yeah, with this Plus Live! I can't seem to have custom names for the desktop contacts?

Is there any way to do this which I fail to see or is there a patch avaliable?

With Plus! Live the custom name feature is gone because Windows Live Messenger has a "nickname" feature itself.

This is however still possible:
right click on the floating desktop contact > Set Nickname...




Alternativly, you can do this too via the contact list window menu:
Plus! > Contacts on Desktop...

!?! I thought it'd be something like that.

Do you have any additional additional info like another alternative email in WLM's contact information itself for this contact? If so, try to remove that information: right click the contact in the contact list and choose "Edit Contact" > "Contact"



Alternativly, to set a Plus! floating desktop contact nickname, you can go to the main menu:
"Plus!" > "Contacts on Desktop..."

Hey wicked, it was just something I had installed. Winroll? If you right click on a window at the top, it just keeps the bar and the screen disappears. Like a mac?

Yeah.

With that disabled, it's all okay.
