O.P. MP!L and windowed games
Hi, this is my problem: if I play a game in windowed mode, and suddenly a conversation window of messenger pops up, the game (this problem happens with any game, played in window) starts to lag and go very slow, so I have to close the conversation window. This problem happens even if I am in "Busy" status and the windows doesn't pop up. I think the problem is caused by messenger plus because a friend of mine can play the same game in windowed mode and having multiple conversation windows opened, but he hasn't installed MP. This problem happened since the release of Live Messenger 8.0 and 8.1, with the respective version of MP!L...is Messenger Plus the problem? Do you have any suggestions? Thank you :)

Well, have you tried without messenger plus! live?

do you possibly have sweetim installed?

do you use a patched version of messenger (e.g using mess patch)?

have you got sufficient memory to run it properly?

I don't think MSG PLUS causes the problem. I think its your computer that does not have enough memory to run Windows Live Messenger and the game at the same time.

Maybe you could post more specifications.

This got me puzzled.... There is no option (neither in Messenger, neither in Plus! itself) to not show conversations when you're in busy mode...

So are you sure you're only running Windows Live Messenger and Messenger Plus! Live and not some other addons or Plus! scripts or whatever?

Also, don't forget:

Thank you for the answers :)

You were right, I re-installed Messenger 8.0 (I prefer this version, but with 8.1 there is the same problem) without addons (previously I used MP!L and applied mess patch) and the problem persists...i don't think it's a resource problem, because it happens even with old games (FlatOut 1) and new(NFS:Carbon and Pro evolution soccer 6); however my pc consists of AMD athlon 64 3500+, 1 GB ram, Asus a8n-sli motherboard, ati x800 with 256MB ram vga; the OS is WinXP pro.
Furthermore, the pc of my friend who hasn't this problem, is older and less powerful than mine *-)
What can I do? Have I to return to version 7.5 :S
Thank you again

Might be this, might not be this...

Disable window shadows. You can do this by going in Tools -> Options. It is located in the section "General" under the "Effects" Heading.
