O.P. Huh?  Live Messenger Content Location in PC
Dear All,

The old method doesnt work with Windows Live Messenger to get a copy of your display pics, backgrounds and winks in the hard disk.

Does anyone know how to access and save the images, winks and backgrounds you download from Kiwee and Bluemountain.

I have lots of them but cant find them in PC.

Please advise and help.

Thanks.

Thanks it works fine. But it saves in MCO format. I want to save the display pics as images in order to send them to someone. Is that possible????

if you have a second account...try stuffplug. Which will save the 96x96 image of it on your other account.

Basically... MCO loaded in one account, ensure it shows on other account, then use stuffplug to get the image of the picture you want, or alternatively...use paint and the print screen key.

Your own:
%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\<emailaddy>\ObjectStore
Vista: %localappdata%\Microsoft\Messenger\<emailaddy>\ObjectStore\

You will find all content in subfolders. Folder names are pretty clear as to what is where except for regular display pictures, these are located in UserTile.

Copy the DT2 files elsewhere then rename them in your new folder to .png*

Your contact's:
%temp%\MessengerCache

*Edit: unfortunately this method does not work for dynamic content

stephenmong, the display picture will be in the DP list. You can uninstall from there (tools > change display picture).
