O.P. FireWire port dead?
Hello;

I was using my camcorder to transfer some video to my pc until suddenly my firewire port stopped working. It doesn't recognize the camcorder anymore whatever i try. I plugged it onto my other computer and there it works fine. What happened? Can I test my firewire port somehow?

PS i'm not on a mac :^) i'm using a HP DV8000
I contacted tech support of HP and they recommended me to 'update' chipset drivers. I did but the version on their site was older then the one i had... now my aero doesn't work anymore (vista) and my port also still doesnt :(
But that is my opinion!

RE: FireWire port dead?
open up the Device manager (WINKEY-Break > Hardware > Device Manager) and see if windows reports an error with the port
