O.P. Firefox Search problem
Hi guys

YEsterday i did  a reinstall of Firefox (installed from scratch) but now the "I'm feeling Lucky" search functionality of the address bar doesn't seem to be working 100%.

Previously if i type msghelp in the address bar it will use Google to search and automatically take me to shoutbox.menthix.net. Now, after the reinstall, it appears to be going my default to a .com address for whatever item i search for. So msghelp ends up going to www.msghelp.com. This is happening with every domain name that doesn't end in .com. Additionally previously i could use phrases like ebay uk to go to the eBay UK page (instead of typing the full www.eBay.co.uk URL), now however it gives me the following message:

I remember having this problem previously after installing Firefox, but can't remember how i fixed it. It's not a problem with Google or something as this still works fine on Firefox on our other computer.

Any ideas how to correct this?

Cheers,

RE: Firefox Search problem
Very strange. Apart from a complete uninstall and a reinstall, I don't really know what to do. There's probably some environment variable or something that's awry. The Mozilla site might give you an irc channel the developers are usually in, this is true for most open source programs, and they are the best people to help you.

I don't think there are any Mozilla hackers here, though.
was put impeccably into words at DebianDay for me last Saturday, by Knut Yrvin of Trolltech - adults try something once, fail, and then are like "ffs this doesn't work". Children try, fail, and then try again, and succeed - maybe on the second, or even fifth retry. But the thing is that they keep at it and overcome the problems in the end.

code:
http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=

Re-entering the text didn't solve it.
