it works fine, but Plus! 4.21 doesn't work here....

for that reason i re.installed WLM 8.1  to play in the contest

Shouldn't first there be a  WLMSN 8.2 ver. or something.......I don't thimk that MS team is so good to jump [ i think taht they suck! ] so ahead in making new ver. of wlmsn......so i think it s an ad... but again who knows?!

To those who tried this "WLM 8.5" download... Besides the skin, what are the new features, if any? If this is really 8.5 from MS, surely there must be noticeable new features in it.

Obviously the installer is already not real, and what i've seen from the screenies looks like just another home-made skin.

From what I can tell, this is a "real" version of Windows Live Messenger. It comes under the (Spanish) build of 8.5.1235.0517.

The installing takes a while, riddled with problems, but that's only because this "messenger adictos" website decided to compress the actual installer into their own executable, probably for advertising purposes.

Can't see any new features yet, but it's early stages it seems... the whole thing has been redesigned though, including chat windows and "...just signed in" pop-ups.

Not sure if I'm going to keep it yet though... Plus! obviously doesn't work with it, and the whole thing's in Spanish.

It's real. The Messenger Addictos part of the installer just copies Microsoft's Installer to %programfiles%\Messenger Adictos & GiraldoCrespo and then executes it.

The real installer is digitally signed by Microsoft Corporation as are all of the installed files.

You are correct. I found out myself while you posted . There don't seem to be any real new features, but the installer is heavily changed (the REAL installer ES_Install_WLMessenger_8_5.exe signed by Microsoft), and obviously the style/layout has been changed.

Microsoft seems to be marketing the Windows Live brand more...
- In the startmenu you will find "Windows Live™ Messenger" in a "Windows Live" folder
- The ES_Install_WLMessenger_8_5.exe installer says "Windos Live" instead of "Windows Live Messenger"
- Default installpath is C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger instead of C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger
- Rightclick on ES_Install_WLMessenger_8_5.exe > Properties > Version > Internal Name (and Original File name) mention "WLSuite.exe" which suggests it comes from a Windows Live Suite that has multiple products in one installer, comparable to Google Pack?

Here is how you get msgplus On Windows Live Messenger 8.5

Go to your old messenger folder
C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger

Find the dll "msimg32.dll"

Copy paste it into the new folder
C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger

And there you have it working!
