O.P. [request] make popups appear only for certain users
Hello,

Im new here and im not sure if this has been done before, I dont know how to search for something like this but the idea is pretty simple.

A simple? script that lets you choose which contacts you want to get pop up messages from when they come online. This (in my opinion) is to avoid getting annoyed by certain users that change their status to offline then online repeatedly, or just deselect users I dont care much about. Also, there are some users that have crappy internet connections so their messenger connects and  disconnects frequently, its very annoying when im waiting for someone, I hear the "someone came online sound" and when I look at the computer, its someone that was already online.

I hope I explained myself, so if anybody could help me, or if theres already a script that already does this I would appreciate it. :)

Im sure im not the only one that would find a script like this useful.

Thanks :)

Not needed you can do it with a few settings change.

Tools > Options > Alerts and Sounds > Uncheck Display alerts when contacts come online > Click Ok

Tools > Plus! > Preferences > Customize > Events Notifications > Add > Check all the contacts you want > Click Next > User has Signed In > Click Next > Check Display a popup notification when this event occurs > Next > Check This notification will never expire > Done.

this is built into the functionality of Plus itself!

Plus Prefs > Customize > Events Notifications > Add... > and i think the rest is pretty straight forward

darn, matty beat me to it

Set a special notification for someone who you are waiting for and set a special sound for him/her, and you won't need to look at the screen when people who you set Online notifications with Matty's method come online. Simply right click on that specific contact on your contact list and "Messenger Plus! Features>Create New Notification" and specify a sound for him. You can even set "This notification will never expire", "Delete this notification once the event occurs" and "Delete this after some time". OK?, USE IT.
