I really wouldnt know how to do this myself, but i assume that it can be done, i would like a notification, anywhere really, as to the type of client that my contact is using, eg wlm (+version no.), pidgin, bitlbee, etc,

You can get your contact to type (!VER) (if he/she has plus! installed)
Or, you could simply ask them.
As for the script, if it is possible, it would be very hard to do.. I'm not great on scripts, so i can't tell for sure.
