O.P. Some files on Messenger are needed message
I get an message that says that Some files on Messenger are needed ever time I start WLM.  It says "Insert Messenger into the drive selected below, and then click OK".

Then - Copy files from:  and there is a drop-down box but it seems to be looking for D:\i386?  Where do I find this file???

I usually click cancelled and the box goes away and I log it but why do I keep getting this message?

Thank you.

I would try the solution posted http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=76696 which seems to be a similar problem to yours anyway.

This isn't a similar problem, from the looks of things. The post you linked is looking for the MSI installer for Windows Live Messenger. The original poster's WLM is looking for the Windows XP CD.

D:\i386 is the location your Windows XP (or 2000) was installed from - place your Windows CD in the drive and click okay, and it should copy the correct files.

I have no idea why WLM would need files from your CD, though.

Does it specify which files its looking for? that is rather strange, WLM usually installs even on a fresh XP installation.
