Hi,
Is there a way to only enable alerts (like for when a contact signs in) for specific groups of contacts in my contact list?

Explanation: Y'see, I have one or two groups of people that I talk to constantly and a few that I don't, but require to keep in contact with (so blocking them isn't such a good idea). So it's only the people I actively talk to frequently that I would want to be alerted about when they sign into Messenger.

Can I do that? Or is it a decent suggestion for a feature if it doesn't already exist?

I know that I used to be able to block a group of contacts, but I can't even find that option anyway. How come?

You can setup a notification in Plus! to do this.

Plus! > Preferences > Customize > Event Notifications

While running through the wizard you will be asked which contacts you want to be notified for. Select the ones you wish.

Note: Messenger Plus! Live does not have access to which contacts belong to which groups.

But you used to be able to block an entire group, didn't you? A while ago? What happened?

There is no longer foolproof way to get group information for Plus! for WLM.

But you could use a script:
Group Blocking -> http://www.msgpluslive.net/scripts/view/182-Group-blocking/ (Thats what I used sometimes ago)

Block Contacts -> http://www.msgpluslive.net/scripts/view/191-Block-Contacts/ (I particulary never tryed it....)

I didn't want to actually block the contacts, but that script will come in handy anyway
