O.P. Live shows two of each contacts
I just reinstalled Vista on my new drive and noticed a strange problem with Live Messenger. All of my contacts that are offline/mobile doubled (two entries). Booted to the old drive, no problem.

Back to my new drive, uninstalled Live and installed MSN 7.5 instead, no problem. Installed Live back, and same problem again. Tried 8.5 BETA same problem. What's going on? The list is huge now, and it's annoying.

Do they have a different buddy list icon? Like a book?

If so its simply the contact of an "address book". There is a way to disable it, at work right now and dont recall the menu system. But someone here will.

No, they are all buddy icons.

Here is a funny thing though. As soon as a contact goes online, the second entry is automatically removed.

Is the contact in another "group"?

Nope they are next to each other. As I said in my first post, this is not a problem in my old Vista insallation or MSN 7.5.
