And also possibly a reason why, looking to get my dad a new camera and he hates Lithium batteries .

I use my new Canon A550. It's easy to use, not too heavy, has quite a large screen, and is 7.1 mega pixels. I doubt your dad needs anything with more megapixels than that, and it uses 2 AA batteries. Best buy usually sell these ones for not too much.

Well, I'm not sure, but I think he'd like it also to have a Widescreen function .

But that camera sounds like a choice.

Canon A710 IS was my second choice if I didn't choose a Nikon.
