most dvd players these days support playing divx natively, so you dont have to convert them to the dodgy uncompressed dvd format and can fit quite alot more on a disk
and all you have to do is open your favorite burning program, create a new data disk, drag your divx avi files over and burn ![:P](images/smilies/msn_tongue.gif)

RE: 5 Movies to a dvd?
As dt said, there are some DVD players which can play divx movies easily. Just burn them to a DVD and you'll be fine.
For those who don't have one then a program like ConvertXtoDVD can help you. But five movies to a DVD? Depends if you like shitty quality.
It's up to you.

most of DVD rips on the net are between 800mb, and those have a nice quality... you can easily put 5 of them on a blank DVDR ![:undecided:](images/smilies/xso_undecided.gif)

If you still think you will have 5 great looking movies after they were ripped, encoded and compressed to 700mb then re-encoded to MPEG-2 format. Depending if you use SL or DL discs you will have to make sure it stays within the file limits then I think you have to get your eyes checked.
But as the saying goes, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Go for it!

A 700MB Film ripped from a DVD is usually perfect quality and I've never experienced any great loss i nquality. I suppose it's all down to what your capable of watching without getting annoyed.

H.264 AVC MP4's can create perfect DVD quality video at about 300MB per film ![:D](images/smilies/msn_grin.gif)

Yeah... but if you re-encode it to a 700MB MPEG-2 encoded film then it may look a bit worse for wear.
A dual-layer DVD is designed to hold 2 (SHQ) - 4 (HQ) - 6 (MQ) hours of video, but you can play about with compression and get it higher. However, after 6 or so hours the resolution needs dropped to around 376x252, which is crappy, especially if you have an HDTV.
(Nero Vision Express will do all this for you, but it's slow and can cause lag and stuff if you don't have the perfect codecs install).
