I'm so busy typing message replies that I miss the several messages that appear and then dissapper off the the top of the message window. Then they get mad at me because I haven't the slightest idea what they're now talking about.
Proposed Solution:
Make it possible for a "New Message" sound to alert the user even when the message appears in the currently active window/tab.
