Virtual drive.

download Daemon tools

Once it's running, right click the icon is system tray > Virtual CD/DVD-ROM > Device > Mount image and then select the iso.

how would that work when you need to boot from it?

the only thing I can come up with is install vmware > create new vm > set drive as the partition > install to it, but I don't know what complications might come up since it's not a proper installation

but what abuot OSx86, ya see, you cant mount the image in the virtual drive and install it, because its not compatitble with Windows operating system. Therefore it wont boot any media/installer to get it going. i need to install from a boot up, but boot up into my OSx86 installer. Any ideas?

Thats quite a good idea. Although using that, surely i could put my media into a seperate partition? because that way, i can boot from that partition, and then install into a DIFFERENT partition?

Thanks for your word anyways, it has helped.

i use Acronis OS selector so im sure i'll think of something.

cheers,

Sam

I'm sure your operating system came on a CD/DVD if you bought it from a store. Otherwise may I ask what's wrong with simply burning it to a CD, seems like a lot of trouble to avoid using a CD?

For osX86 support I have to direct you to

http://forum.insanelymac.com/
InsanelyMac Forum

and

http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/
Hackint0sh

insanely is more general help and stuff, hackintosh is more for advanced osx86'ers and developers (but members will still help out usually) , a lot of people moved to hackintosh when insanely 'sold out' and started to censor people and edit posts to completly change their context (see Semthex's Blog http://semthex.com ).

They lost a lot of staff and respect, BUT it does seem to have sorted itself out a bit now.

I'd still recommend it as a starting point :)

There are tutorials on insanely for moving a VMWARE installation to a native hard-drive so look there.

it means i can use trial & improvement , coz ive already tried this, and installed it onto a DVD, and it didnt work, and that was 4.7 GB down the drain. i want a way that doesnt use any extra resources.

Well you mount it and goto install. You then select what partition you want to use and use it. The install copies all the files you need to that partition. Once it gets to a certain percent, the computer will restart and boot into the Windows Setup and keep installing.

You can't install it by mounting it. What are you going to do when it reboots?
