Hi, I have a weird problem and hoping someone can help. If this is in the wrong place, just move it...

I'm on Win2000 Pro, with NOD. Work PC, on a network, connected to net.

I've had an msn email since '03. Works fine.

At work I can sign into hotmail, I can verify my microsoft passport, can sign into the live page....but I can not sign into msn 7.0 (working msn for W2000)

I get this message:

"Sorry we could not sign you in because the sign in name you entered does not exist or your password is incorrect."

Error code is 81000303

My details are correct. Because I can sign into hotmail, etc as above. At home I can sign into msn.

Co-workers here can sign into msn 7.0 here on my computer....just not me. So it's not a firewall or network or virus scanning software issue.

My details are correct. It just won't let me sign in....other people can, no problem.

I have verified that my microsoft passport is functional. I can sign into the microsoft page....with the same details I am trying to use to sign into msn.

Anyway....any tips, clues or suggestions could prove vital.

1 - How long has this been happening? Give it time, could be a server problem.

2 - Update to the latest version?

About for the last week. I have updated to the latest version for Win2000 Pro.

I did a search and notice that this particular problem was common in '04.

I'd say my problems are due to some kind of a conflict between the NET Passport people/ their database of accounts/ my '03 @msn.com username and Win2000 Pro/ and msn 7. whatever the latest version for Win2000 is that works.

I can't see it righting itself.

Other people in the office CAN sign in, like I said....NET Passport or msn ON THIS LAPTOP and USING Win2000 and an older MSN DOES NOT LIKE MY USERNAME.

But at home, on my Vista machine, with latest msn....I can sign in fine.

There's always MSN Web Messenger which is pretty good.

Also there are alternatives instead of Windows Live / MSN Messenger which you can use to sign in and talk to your contacts with your current NET Passport:
- Pidgin
- Miranda IM
- Trillian
- Easy Message
- Instan-t Messenger
- aMSN
