Hello,
I'd like to ask something.
With WLM 9.0, we can use animated gif icons as our avatars. What I want to know is that if my contacts dont have WLM 9.0, e.g. they have WLM 8.5, then can they view my avatar animations?
How about sig sounds? If I set a sig sound for myself, will they be able to listen to it?

No the animation will be a still image, also they will not hear the signature sound.

good question, i was wondering the same thing myself.. i searched around and this page says animated display pictures will be shown as static (the same thing as justincredible said). so i just tried it with my messenger 9.0 and my friend on messenger 8.0, he was only seeing the first bit of my animation, only the first frame i guess

shouldnt be a problem once live 9.0 is out, everyone will upgrade quickly, then we can all use animated display pics

That is if they keep the feature. There is a possibility Animated Display Pictures will be removed (in my opinion it shouldn't be removed).

But remember it's a beta .

Yeah I really hope not.... it's my favorite new feature, animated emoticons were good, but animated display pics are the bomb!

I can assure you, they will not remove it . Some very strict limitations have been set, as well as good restrictions.

Do you mean the current animated DP restrictions already in place, or other ones being added in future versions?
