I'm using MSN Live & Plus since they came out.
Now I bought a new computer and installed the latest versions.
But after installing Plus the names of my buddies were still without colours, and I see only the codes like [b][/b] for example. I tried everything and I'm desperate 'cause nothing helps.
Can someone help?

Would you tell us about what Windows Live Messenger version you are using?
Is this option checked?
Plus! \ Preferences \ Customize! \ General -> "Use formatting attributes to color contact names in Messenger windows" (can be something slightly different in your language)

ok...I've got the 8.5 version and the 4.60.326 version of Plus!.
The option "Use formatting attributes to color contact names in Messenger windows" is already enabled.
Do you have any other addons installed?
Any Messenger richcontent stuff like SmileyCentral, IM Central, and the likes?
Any Messenger patches?
Any Windows desktop manipulating stuff like WindowsBlinds?
Any security programs which interact and could even block Messenger like firewalls, anti-virus software (AVG is known to do it), etc?
Go to your Task Manager panel (press CTRL-ALT-DEL) and look in the processes tab which program is using the most CPU time (see the column CPU)...

nothing of this, I think. It's a new computer and I have the same programs as on the old one. McAfee didn't block MSN there.
And why's that in common with the colours?
ok I got it but I can't expLain how. I installed DirectX....

This happens alot to me on my macbook, but it was happening before I installed Messenger Discovery. So I doubt it's that. I've not been able to pin down the sudden freezes of computer to any resource using full ram or CPU
happens even when not on messenger, just locks up for about 30 seconds
