When I right-click on a contact in the WLM list htere's a feature labeled "Receive contact updates" which is disabled by default. Even if disabled the contact's status is still updated like the personal message, etc. So what is this feature for? Thanks

just to update the contact info that you see when you right click a contact > Edit Contact

if your contact have a profile on live spaces and you check "auto update contact info" box, the messenger will automatically download (and refresh when any change happens) your contact infos from live space profile, for example: location,phone number,etc. you can edit manually this items as well. i think it's a very useful feature
