If you are using Messenger Plus! Live 4.79 Beta with the new version of Windows Live Messenger then this is a known bug caused by MP!L 4.79 and you can either uninstall 4.79 Beta or wait for the release a little later on today of the 4.80 Beta

i have downloaded latest live messenger, whilst i have none of these issues, i am unable to use my webcam as a stand alone unit...the only option i have is video call, which makes talking to more than 1 person on web cam impossible, the option for just webcam has been greyed out, although it is there listed..pls help, unable to chat to my kids when they r not on same pc

Sound works in other programs?

Are you set to Busy? Do you have the options "Display alerts when a message is received" and "display alerts when a group message is received" turned on? (Settings > Alerts)

Make sure "Mute all sounds" isn't checked in Settings > Sound.

yes. i can hear the sounds perfectly fine in 1 to 1 conversations. I just cant hear the sounds in group chats. and yes i have all alerts checked.

I have another problem.
Whenever I see the message that I have new email and I press it, it will get me to the italian?? hotmail site and it has italian advertisements but WLM is english...Any ideas?
