O.P. What does that indicate?

Sometimes, when I open a chat windows with a certain contact I get this message. What does it indicate? Nickname is already in this conversation.

It could indicate there was already an open protocol session. If they initiated a session, but never sent you a message, your client send them a session invitation only to discover there is already one open...

Just one possible meaning
