O.P. Problem adding contacts/being added
Hey,

So I've been having this problem since I got Windows Live Messenger 2009, it never happened in 8.5.

Basically when someone adds me, it won't come up the box saying that someone has added me, and when I add someone... it usually takes a minute, then says "LThis Windows Live service isn't available right now, but we'll add <email address>  to your contacts as soon as the service is available again. You don't need to do anything else.

This happens with all contacts, Hotmail, Live, and Gmail.

The only way I can get it working is by using Zap Messenger then reinstalling it, but that's only a temporary fix, and it usually goes back to it's ways in a few hours.

Any idea what the problem could be? Would it have anything to do with port forwarding? I never touched any ports for Live Messenger, as I've never had problems with sending and receiving files, but now I'm wondering if this would be causing the problem with my contacts.

Thanks!

Also, I'm using Windows 7, so downgrading to 8.5 isn't a choice.

EDIT: I've also emailed the guys at Live Messenger about this, and got a generic answer with generic steps including reinstalling, registry fixes, and none of it works.
