Ok. So.
My messenger worked perfectly fine last night and now all I get is "Error 81000378: your contatc list is not available"

I have tried EVERYTHING on the troubleshooting help site. Everything.
However, when I tried the second option "Register the appropriate DLL files."
A few of the .dll files would not run. I got another error message from Windows telling me it couldn't run. Lovely.

I have been running Windows Live 8.5

I installed the newest Windows Live and it works, but I frakking HATE it with the burning passion of a thousand suns.

Why is it that the newest edition is working, but my beloved 8.5 is not? Should they not be connecting to the same servers?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled a bunch of times. I have literally tried everything I could find on the internet..

Can anyone help me?

I'm running Vista, I'm on a dell xps m1530, and I just want to use windows live 8.5.

The thing that helped me with this "contact list not available" problem was that I first logged in on eBuddy, then tried logging in on my WLM while still being logged in on eBuddy. Hopefully, it will help you too.
