Is it an integrated webcam or a standalone one?

It says it isnt plugged in... but I put the cord in the front of the commuter.

it hasnt been working since my cat chewed through the cord. I don't know why not though because I taped; the cord back together in one peice so it shoud be working?!?!

Even though you could have visually repaired the cord, it is possible that the electrical connection is not functioning properly. If it has been physically damaged replacing the camera is most likely going to be your only choice.
