As you see in the following screenshot, Ultramon is hooking into every window with 2 new buttons (switch monitor and monitor span)



Is there a program that can do the same sort of hook, but it mutes the window (as opposed going to the Volume Mixer in Vista/7 and clicking the mute button there)

Don't know of any, can't find any, but from what I can tell it'd be quite complicated to implement.

However, I would kill for something like this

iirc you just need to add the history and tools button to forefox's url bar area (and guess sam's is another one, btw)

I've used a program called IndieVolume in the past, but may not be what you want:

• doesn't hook into the title bar
  
• not sure if it works with 7
  
• it's not free.
